Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description

Position Title: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
Employment Type: [Full-time / Part-time / PRN]
Reports To: RN Supervisor / Care Coordinator
Position Summary:

The CNA provides high-quality, compassionate care and support to clients in their homes, assisting with daily living activities and ensuring their health and safety under the supervision of a licensed nurse. This role plays a vital part in promoting the client’s well-being, independence, and dignity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with personal care needs including bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, and oral hygiene

  • Monitor and document vital signs and report any changes in condition to supervise staff

  • Support mobility and transfers using proper techniques and assistive devices

  • Provide companionship and emotional support

  • Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and monitoring of dietary restrictions

  • Perform light housekeeping tasks related to client care

  • Follow the established care plan and document daily activities

  • Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines

  • Report any incidents or changes in client condition promptly

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Current CNA certification in [State]

  • CPR and First Aid certification (preferred)

  • One year of home care or healthcare experience (preferred)

  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license

  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening

Personal Care Aide (PCA) Job Description

Position Title: Personal Care Aide (PCA)
Employment Type: [Full-time / Part-time / PRN]
Reports To: RN Supervisor / Care Coordinator

Position Summary:
The PCA provides essential non-medical support services to clients in their homes, helping them maintain independence and quality of life. The role includes personal care, companionship, and light homemaking duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting

  • Provide mobility assistance, including transfers and walking support

  • Prepare meals and assist with feeding, as needed

  • Perform light housekeeping, laundry, and errands

  • Offer companionship, conversation, and engagement in activities

  • Observe and report changes in the client’s condition or environment

  • Follow individual care plans and agency protocols

  • Maintain client privacy and confidentiality

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED (preferred)

  • Completion of PCA training program or relevant experience

  • CPR and First Aid certification (preferred)

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

  • Ability to pass background check and drug test
